VANCOUVER, BC - January 24, 2007 - Rocket
Builders has released its fourth annual "Ready to Rocket 25" list
along with its annual "I.T. Outlook" report. The "Ready to
Rocket 25" list names twenty-five private B.C. companies who are best positioned
to capitalize on the information technology (I.T.) trends that will contribute
to faster growth than the I.T. sector as a whole.
The "Ready to Rocket 25" list is the only predictive list of its kind
in North America. In past years, the list has accurately chosen companies that
have significant revenue growth, that are more likely to receive investment and
that are more likely to get acquired. Key highlights of the 2006 list include:
"The growth rates of these private
companies is impressive when you consider that the I.T. sector only grew at 5%
in 2006." said Reg Nordman, Managing Partner at Rocket Builders.
"Similar to the 2005 list, the top performers in the 2006 list were well
over 200% growth. I think the range of product categories represented and the
ongoing revenue growth success these companies are having shows both the
diversity and maturity of the technology industry in B.C."
Today, Rocket Builders has presented the 2007 list of Ready to Rocket companies
and its "I.T. Outlook" predictions to B.C.'s top investment firms and
professional advisors at a special event at U.B.C. Robson Square.
"As we predicted last year, Software-as-a-Service (SaaS), Wireless,
Security and Customer Relationship technologies were key drivers of significant
growth." said Geoffrey Hansen, the Managing Partner at Rocket Builders
responsible for the I.T. Outlook report. "Looking into 2007 and beyond,
innovation and growth will be driven by Internet-related technologies and
Digital Media technologies, and especially where those two converge."
This year's I.T. Outlook report has highlighted:
The process of choosing the twenty-five companies for the "Ready to Rocket
25" list involved mapping over one hundred (100) technology companies
against the key trends identified in the "I.T. Outlook 2007" report. To
qualify for the ?Ready to Rocket 25? list, companies must have fully
commercialized technology and customer traction with their products. In order
to highlight emerging companies likely to make the list in subsequent years,
the ?Ones to Watch? list profiles these ?up and comers?.
"The Ones-to-Watch list is now getting
almost as much interest as the Ready to Rocket 25," said Dave Thomas, a
Senior Partner at Rocket Builders. "Foreign investors and industry
analysts are keen to meet these companies, and getting employed at a high
growth start-up is still a draw for many people. This year?s list of Ones-to-Watch companies definitely
reflects the emergence of Web 2.0 and Digital Video."
